PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST
About PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST
‘A Portrait of the Artist’ is a mixed media installation, variable dimensions, (2007) produced for Glasgow School of Art’s MFA Degree Show 14th - 24th June 2007 at Tramway, Glasgow. The installation featured a museum style presentation of experiments, works in progress and ‘first thoughts’ made between 2005 and 2007. The selection here shows the main themes that emerged including life class, life model, art school history and archives (Glasgow School of Art), theories of production, and foundational works that began the research enquiry.
Special thanks to Peter Bevan (artist, former tutor Glasgow School of Art), Jonathan Purcell, fellow MFA students and staff John Calcutt, Sam Ainsley, Graham Ramsey, Francis McKee, Jim and T.S. Beal; Hunterian Museum and Gallery, and the Mackintosh Research Centre for Archives and Collections.
